原子力研究所の概要

Kindai University Atomic Energy Research Institute was established as a research and educational facility in 1960. A year later, the Kindai University Reactor (UTR-KINKI) began operation and achieved its first
criticality on November 11, 1961, as the first private and university-based reactor in Japan. In addition to the researchers who make use of the reactor for their experimental researches in various fields of science and
engineering, the UTR-KINKI reactor has been widely used for the training and education of students in the nuclear engineering programs. The UTR-KINKI reactor also provides opportunities for school teachers and the public to learn nuclear and radiation science in workshops and seminars.

研究所には、原子炉と付属設備を収容する原子炉施設（606㎡）のほか、放射性同位元素や加速器などを使用するトレーサー・加速器施設（482㎡）と研究棟（5楷建、1298㎡）があり、敷地（9180㎡）内はすべて周辺監視区域として関係者以外の立入りが制限されます。研究所の組織のほか、利用・管理委員会、安全委員会があります。
