🌊 Cultivating the Sea: Behind the Scenes of Kindai Tuna!
In the aftermath of WWII, with fish stocks plummeting, Kindai University’s first president Koichi Seko declared, “Cultivate the sea!” In 1948, the Shirahama Marine Research Center was established in Wakayama. Since then, Kindai has achieved a series of world-firsts—including the full-cycle aquaculture of bluefin tuna in 2002—becoming a global leader in sustainable aquaculture.

🌊 海を耕せ！近大マグロの舞台裏
敗戦後、魚が獲れなくなった日本で、近畿大学初代総長・世耕弘一は「海を耕せ！」と掲げ、1948年に和歌山・白浜に臨海研究所を設立。そこから世界初の偉業を次々と達成し、2002年にはクロマグロの完全養殖に成功。今や世界トップの養殖技術を誇る研究機関として走り続けています。
