    Summary:あらゆるカラー画像に対して最高の品質の限定色表示を得ることを目標とし、人の視覚特性を利用した2つの新手法を提案する。これらの手法では、人の色知覚を均一に評価するため、明度を重視した均等色空間を利用した。まず、固定限定色表示手法により、この色空間の品質への効果を確認する一方、ディザ法による改良を加えて画質を向上させた。また、適応型限定色表示手法について、上記の空間上で視覚特性を利用した改良を試みた。まず、人の視覚上で識別が不可能な分割を終結し、さらに、従来は考慮されなかった視覚の空間周波数特性を初めて利用した。以上の改良により、入力画像に対して安定に高品質な結果を得る限定色表示に成功した。For color image quantization, two new methods are suggested, which make high quality results from any color images by applying human vision characteristics. To uniformly estimate the human color perception, they both use uniform color scale space with modification on brightness scale. First, the space was evaluated by developping a color image quantization algorithm with fixed number of colors. The algorithm was improved by dithering. Next, the space was also applied to the color quantization algorithm with colors adaptively selected for each image. Several human vision characteristics were used for the algorithm. Color space division meaningless to human eyes were omitted, and the spatial characteristics of human vision which had never been considered were used. Consequently, we succeeded to make high quality results to any input images.
