Professor
Laboratory
Laboratory of Inorganic Materials Chemistry
Inorganic Materials Chemistry

We make full use of environmentally friendly methods to fabricate artificial bone that enables fracture patients to live their lives as comfortably as possible. We are also actively involved in creating markers that enable the detection of even single cancer cells and colorants that change hue depending on the viewing angle.

OTSUKA Teppei

Position
Professor
Laboratory
Advanced Energy Environment Application Laboratory
Materials science for energy, Science and technology for hydrogen isotopes, Transport phenomena of elements in materials, Irradiation effects on materials

The research interests are safety confinement, storage and handling of hydrogen isotopes and radioactive elements in materials. Experiments and simulation on transport phenomena of elements in materials and interactions of radiation and materials are conducted.

OKADA Masaaki

Position
Professor
Laboratory
Landscape & Heritage Study Laboratory
Landscape Engineering, History of Civil Engineering, Industrial Heritage, Heritage Studies

Research on landscape evaluation and history of civil engineering. We embrace the concept of using landscapes near to us as community assets in doing design. We start with familiar places, and identify issues and research ways to resolve them.

KOMINAMI Hiroshi

Position
Professor
Laboratory
Surface Design Chemistry Laboratory
Physical Chemistry, Catalytic Chemistry

Catalysts are what control chemical reactions. This laboratory develops intelligent catalysts to enable more effective resource utilization and allow full use of natural energy sources and waste materials. In addition, we also conduct research on earth-friendly chemical reactions such as energy conversion and environmental cleanup.

Laser Engineering Laboratory
Laser Engineering

We are actively conducting research related to laser and electrical energy control, for example, development of new lasers, new functional materials by laser treatment, laser peening, and development of fast high-voltage switch using power semiconductors.

NISHIYABU Kazuaki

Position
Professor
Laboratory
Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Engineering Laboratory
Machining, Composites Manufacturing, Micro/Nano Power Fabrication Process

How do we effectively utilize advanced materials to boost the capabilities, performance, and environmental adaptability of components used in products such as aircraft and automobiles? We research processing methods that form the essential foundations of manufacturing. In particular, we are developing methods and equipment for manufacturing composite materials that combine metal, polymer, and ceramic. We make materials and machines myself, and explore the importance of "Connecting with different things".

HARADA Takashi

Position
Professor
Laboratory
Precision Mechanical Engineering Laboratory
Parallel Mechanisms, Precision Machinery, Machine Kinematics, Mechanics

Ichiro Suzuki, the Major League player who continues to smash hits even though his circumstances have changed, is the precision machinery of the baseball world. We conduct research, aiming to achieve machinery like Ichiro—machines that do the job reliably even when operating environments and circumstances change.

HANDA Hisashi
